Taryn's Visit to the Ranch in Fort St. John

Megan’s grandparents went away on a holiday and left their cattle ranch in northern BC, close to Fort St. John, in the hands of Megan and her family to take care of while they were away.  There was lots to do every day!

Taryn and I are feeding a little calf named Mike.  He drinks milk that we mix up for him. We fed the pigs every morning and checked to make sure their waterer was working.  The pigs love to run around and play.

We had to check for eggs that the chickens laid every day.  Sometimes the chickens got out of their fence and we had to chase them back in!

Grandpa’s horses, Blaze and Diamond, needed hay every day, so we fed them. Then we had to check the cows several times each day as well to see if there were any new baby calves.  While we were there, three calves were born!

Grandma’s tomatoes in her greenhouse needed watering, so Taryn and I helped.

Taryn and I did some weeding around Grandma’s strawberry plants and then  we played in Grandma and Grandpa’s old covered wagon and pretend that we are Laura and Mary Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie.

We love Grandma and Grandpa’s farm dog, Ace.

I love this photo story of a little girl, her doll Taryn and tending to all the farm chores and showing us all the farm animals. Lovely photo’s, and it just goes to show all the hard work on a farm, but the great love in doing it.
