Pyjamas and Popcorn Balls!

Did you know that January 19th is National Popcorn Day? How do you like your popcorn? Plain, or maybe with butter and salt? Our favourite is Popcorn Balls! Have you ever made (or even heard of) them before? They are delicious and a fun family activity, perfect for winter when it's chilly outside. Why not gather the family together, throw on your comfy cozy matching pjs, and make some Popcorn Balls? They go well with hot chocolate, too!

Our Family Maplelea fans Dave, Miriam, Teagan and Kinley thought this was a great idea and show us how it's done!

Have you seen a real air-popper before? Teagan and Kinley had never seen one, and that was exciting for them too! They made popcorn till it overflowed the big bowl. Yum!

After eating the overflow, and saving some of the extra, the family went to the living room and strung popcorn garlands to hang on the tree (this was before Christmas!)

After all that hard work, it was time for hot chocolate and ... popcorn balls! The Mills family had never had popcorn balls before and they were a hit! Alexi likes them too!

What a cozy winter family fun activity. Why not grab your family and try them out for yourself? Maybe you will have a new favourite!

Popcorn Ball Recipe

  • 6 cups of popcorn popped
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 8 oz of marshmallows (about 32-36 marshmallows)

  • Melt butter in a very large pot and then add in the marshmallows.
  • Take the pot off the stove and add in the popped popcorn.
  • Stir to mix.
  • Let it sit until it's cool.
  • Wash your hands well and then butter up your hands  (they WILL get sticky).
  • Form balls with the mixture.
  • Place them on wax paper to prevent from sticking together.
