Her dark jeans have a subtle sparkle so that they glisten like new-fallen snow. On her feet she has traditional kamiik  with embroidered felt socks.

This premium quality doll is 46cm (18 inches) tall has a soft, huggable body and poseable arms and legs. Her eyes open and close.  She has dark black-brown hair, brown eyes and medium dark complexion.

Saila's 64-page story journal has 3 versions included: English, French and Inuktitut!  The journal expands to include the extra journal pages that come with each outfit.  The journal includes an extensive glossary as well as a sections with questions, blanks and prompts so you can tell your story too!

Everything is enclosed in a beautiful, newly re-designed keepsake window box that you can use to hold Saila's accessories.

Meet Saila Doll, Outfit, Story Journal, and Keepsake Box

Hi!

My name is Saila Qilavvaq and I live the furthest north!

My home is in Iqaluit, Nunavut. I speak English and Inuktitut and am proud of my Inuit heritage. I love wearing my traditional amauti, kamiik and Pang hat, and eating country foods, pizza and my grandma's bannock and crowberry jam.

Our family likes to go to our camp in all seasons. In summer when the ice is gone, we travel up the coast by boat, and in winter we all pile into the qamutiik that Dad pulls with the snowmobile.

Someday I would like to be a fashion designer and create modern clothing with an Inuit flair! I am so excited — I am getting a new puppy! He is almost all white and so I named him Nanuq, which means polar bear.

Extensive research went into the creation of Saila. Visit The Making of Saila page to learn more about the process of developing our Maplelea Girl from Nunavut.

This doll is impressive. I think she is beautiful, and I have enjoyed reading her journal. This is the first Maplelea doll that I have purchased, and I'll be looking forward to getting another one in the future. High quality doll, clothing, and accessories. Very pleased. 😊

The doll herself is really beautiful. I like her story journal telling about all her outfits and the detail with them as well as the background which tells about each outfit.

Beautiful and well made doll!

Where do I start? So I first discovered the maplelea dolls through a doll collector on YouTube and she was talking about different brands of 18 inch dolls and when I saw the maplelea picture I immediately asked who the doll with the purple vest was and another doll collector responded and said that was Saila and that maplelea ships to America too, so I immediately looked them up and started planning on getting Saila for Christmas as a gift to myself. (She ended up being a new years gift instead) but as soon as I opened her I was absolutely blown away with how beautiful she is and the quality is absolutely AMAZING! I wish I had known about maplelea as a child, because I would have asked for maplelea stuff for every birthday and Christmas, especially Saila's stuff. She is definitely my favorite. She's one of my absolute top favorites of all my 18 inch dolls. Only 4 are in that category and she's one of them. As an American in the deep south, I'm not familiar with much about the inuit culture, aside what little I've read or seen in movies, so it was extremely interesting and fun to read saila's journal and discover more about it. And as I collect more of her outfits and pages, to continue to learn about her. I'm extremely glad that her journal is in multiple languages, especially her own language Inuktitut, even though I can't read it, it is a part of her heritage and is absolutely necessary to include. Through reading her journal I've discovered that she is extremely similar to me in a lot of ways, like loving to make clothes, spending time with her family, learning about her history, her favorite color, even her fashion style is similar to mine, because one of her retired outfits, Katajjaq Giggles, is almost exactly like one of my own dresses that I wear. I would love to own that outfit one day. Because she is so similar to me, she is essentially my mini me even though we don't look alike, so I buy and make things for her that I would wear or love to have. I have had her for a year now, as today (Jan 20, 2025) is the one year anniversary of the day I received her, and she still looks brand new! She has been played with alot, not only from Me Taking her outside alot for pictures and dressing her up alot, but my niece has played with her too, and she still has tight limbs, beautiful soft hair, and is still in perfect condition. I absolutely cannot get over how amazing maplelea products are! I've bought several outfits and accessories for saila, including some that are now retired so I cannot review them on their own, but I will include pictures of her wearing a few of them. Even older second hand maplelea stuff is in absolutely beautiful condition and looks new. This is an amazing brand and I always tell people about them! If anyone is on the fence about getting Saila or maplelea in general, do it! You won't be sorry! The amount of stuff you get and the quality of it for such a great price is far and above many other toy companies out there today in general. The details of things like lined pockets and embroidery, absolutely amazing. And maplelea's customer service is great too! I highly recommend getting Saila, and maplelea products in general. Absolutely worth the money!
