Saila's Inuit kuspuk, traditional Arctic style from the Yukon!

Saila's dad is an Inuit guide in Canada's north. He led a Yukon expedition and brought her this kuspuk, a traditional Western Arctic garment. Saila was thrilled with her gift! The included journal pages tell the history and traditions of the kuspuk. It is also known as a qaspeq which translates to "cloth over parka".

  • A kuspuk is often worn over winter clothing, or it can be worn in the summer over a light layer of clothing to protect against the sun and bugs.

  • This doll garment is sized to fit over Saila's starter outfit, including her polar fleece vest, but she can also wear it over just a t-shirt and jeans.

  • The garment is fully lined. Traditionally a kuspuk is just pulled on over the head.  We have added a Velcro opening in the back to make it easier to put on the doll.

  • The floral print is reminiscent of the Purple Saxifrage and yellow Arctic Draba flowers that bloom on the Arctic tundra during the brief summer months.

Solidarity

I'm an American who values the traditional Canada-US alliance and an American Girl collector. I wanted to express my solidarity with Canada and chose to do it by purchasing several Canadian heritage outfits, including this one. I looked "kuspuk" on Google and found many images, some of which looked remarkably like this one, in form, color, and trim. The color and pattern is lovely. The fabric is good quality. The boots shown in the illustration are not available an, in any case, do not fit American Girls, but I found a reasonable substitute on Etsy, and Ebay has some nice fur trimmed boots. Maplelea does have a variety of other sturdy boots, but it would be nice if boots similar to the ones shown were available. They double the appeal of this garment,

Unfassbar liebenswert

Die Sachen sind wunderschön und absolut hochwertig! Wenn der Versand von Canada nach Deutschland nicht so teuer wäre, dann würde ich viel mehr bestellen.

Just so cute!

I found your company while searching for a kuspuk to fit my American Girl doll. I was so impressed by the quality that I had to get your doll Saila to go with it. Very happy with my purchase.
