April showers have brought colourful May flowers, warmth, and an energy that has drawn us to enjoy the outdoors and dance away in the sun! We've found that wearing a beautiful flower wreath adds extra delight to the joy of May, so let's jump right into making one for you and your Maplelea doll.
Supplies you'll need:
- Fine wire
- Wire cutter
- Green floral tape
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Needle & thread
- Ribbon
- Plastic flowers & leaves (use mini flowers for your doll's wreath)
- Any other decorative items you'd like to add (use your imagination!)
First, use the measuring tape to measure the crown of both your head and your doll's head.
Cut the wire with an additional 1.5-2 inches of wire to ensure the ends can be twisted together to secure your wreaths.
Next, choose the flowers, leaves, and any other decorative items that you've picked out that you'd like to add to your wreath, and use the wire cutters or scissors to cut off any extra bits that you don't want to include.
Wrap your flowers and other items around your wreath, and add green floral tape as you move along.
Once you finish, it's time for ribbon! Locate the area you'd like to dedicate as the back of your wreath — we usually choose where the wire meets, but it's totally up to you. Cut ribbon to your desired length and tie them to the back. Using a separate piece of ribbon, tie a bow and use a needle and thread to sew it to the wreath, right above the flowing ribbon in the back.
Voila! Your beautiful flower wreaths are finished — perfect to wear and dance away in May.
Gorgeous! I love it. Defiantly something I want to try with Taryn.
Sounds easy and fun to make with my grand-daughters. Thank you!
