Item #KS1

Saila's outfit blends contemporary style with her proud Inuit heritage. Her gathered neck t-shirt with an embroidered maple leaf gets an added layer of warmth from the zip-up vest. Her dark silver jeans have a subtle sparkle so that they glisten like new-fallen snow. On her feet she has traditional kamiik.

This premium quality doll is 46cm (18 inches) tall with a soft, huggable body and poseable arms and legs. Her eyes open and close.

Saila's 64-page story journal expands to include the extra journal pages that come with each outfit, all of which are tri-lingual - English, French and Inuktitut and includes an extensive glossary as well as questions, blanks and prompts so you can tell your story too.

Everything is enclosed in a sturdy, keepsake storage box that you can use to hold all of Saila's accessories.

Over two years of extensive research went into the creation of Saila. Visit our blog to learn more about the process behind bringing this Inuit character to life.

True to Life

January 2, 2017

Saila is a beautiful doll that offers a positive representation of a younger Inuktitut girl. The outfits and accessories are very much life-like. As I am currently teaching in an Inuit community, I am surrounded by much of the culture and clothing. When I received my doll, I was blown away by the realism of Saila's kamiiks. I look forward to supporting a company that takes the time and effort to research the various areas of Canada and properly represent them. The journal pages offer a lot of insight into a very different way of living in our great country. I love how educational the experience with Maplelea dolls can be for children. I am thoroughly looking forward to exploring more with Saila and other dolls with my son and future children.

Beautiful doll

We bought Saila for our 7 year old daughter for Christmas as her second Maplelea girl and she loves her! Her hair and face are beautiful and the outfit is wonderful, our daughter especially loves the sparkly jeans and her unique boots. Her journal is informative as well as fun. We have a few of her clothing sets and they look so nice on her, plus they are easy for a younger girl to manage. I feel the dolls are well worth the price for the attention to detail and amazing quality, I know Saila will be loved and played with for years to come.

Saila is a beautifully made doll -- a winsome expression and lovely hair. Cannot wait to give it to my little girl on Christmas morning. Wonderful opportunity for my daughter to learn more about Inuit culture. Our family is biracial and we appreciate companies that make toys that represent the diversity of backgrounds and cultures in our country.

wouldn't change anything!

beavers n stuff

I have been eyeing the Maplelea catalogue since I was a little girl, and was finally able to purchase a doll of my own this summer at the CNE pop-up shop. I chose Saila because I loved her fashion sense, and wanted to learn more about the Inuit culture. There isn't an outfit that doesn't look good on her, honest! I've taken her out to public places a few times now, and always receive compliments about how pretty she is, and how authentic she looks. I love Saila to pieces and am beyond pleased with the high quality of craftsmanship that went into the making of this doll! <3

I love Saila so much and think she's one of the most beautiful dolls in this planet!

Brazilian Girl

Saila was my first Maplelea Doll. I waited a long time to finally have her, because I live in Brazil. I got her last year and I'm so extremely happy with her!! She's so sweet and gorgeous! I love her eyes, her hair, her box, her journal, her clothes, everything! Saila is an amazing doll! I love Maplelea outfits and accessories too. She's so gorgeous that she makes me want to have a second doll Saila, to make them twins. This is how much I love Saila!! Thank you so much, Maplelea, for making this wonderful doll!!

I have previously purchased this doll for a little girl in Greenland.
I purchased the amauti and also bought the little girl an amauti so she could pack her Saila doll as well.

Across the Inuit circumpolar world Saila is travelling.

I am ordering two more for my grandchildren.
